2016 - PRESENT Author, photographer and creator of THESE THREE THINGS project and book published by Running Press 2018. A daily project spanning over 5 years and counting where the author records three things she has learned each day and pairs them with original photography and shares the daily results with the THESE THREE THINGS COMMUNITY on Instagram @lisaandersonshaffer and @zelmarose #thesethreethings.
7/2010 - PRESENT Owner and head designer at Zelma Rose. An internationally recognized collection of refined fiber jewelry found in brick and mortar and museum stores around the world. Handmade by the artist with minimal to zero waste from her studio in West Marin California. Zelma rose has been featured in The San Francisco Chronicle, Uppercase Magazine, San Francisco Magazine, Marin Magazine, GQ, 7x7, Good Day Sacramento, The Four Seasons Wedding Magazine, Conde Nast, Architectural Digest, Design Sponge, Coastal Living Magazine and other fine publications.
10/2000 – 8/2004 California Arts Council Artist-in-Residence, Art for Recovery at the UCSF Comprehensive Cancer Center, a designate of the National Cancer Institute, San Francisco, California. Art for Recovery is a nonprofit providing creative services and support to adults and children coping with life threatening illnesses in the San Francisco Bay Area.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
2012 - 2018 Fiber arts and weaving instructor at workshop locations across the country. Classes at locations include Poketo, Handcraft Studio School, The Makery, Open Studios, and private corporate events.
2009 - 2010 San Francisco State Masters in Clinical Psychology Program guest lecturer. Instructed first year students in the subjects of psychoanalysis, working with new patients, and introduction to psychotherapeutic techniques.
2009 - 2010 Visual arts instructor at College Track in Oakland, CA providing visual arts classes to underserved high school students interested in pursuing a college degree.
9/1999 – 6/2000 San Francisco Arts Education Project, Francisco Middle School, San Francisco, California. Professional artist hired by San Francisco Arts Education Project, placement in a SFUSD school to assist teaching of visual arts. I Encouraged city youth involvement in the visual arts and assisted artist Richard Olsen with four visual arts classes, sixth to eighth grade weekly.
9/1998 – 6/1999 San Francisco Arts Education Project (Public Garden Grant), Francisco Middle School, San Francisco, California. A garden sanctuary created by students at Francisco Middle School led by artist Ray Beldner and landscape architect Loretta Gargan in collaboration with students from the San Francisco Art Institute.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
1/2005 – 8/2006 Research Assistant to Rosemarie Bowler, Ph.D. Assistant to Dr. Bowler in writing clinical reports and scoring neurological assessment test batteries of Oakland Bay Bridge welders. The welders are being assessed for neurological impairment resulting from exposure to manganese. Test battery includes: WAIS III, WMS III, WRAT, Cancellation H, COWAT, D-KEFS, TOMM, Trail Making, Stroop and the Boston Naming Test.
